Anybody use 1 of these? Would seem to be an alternative to a Clam plate.

i wouldn't use a system like that. you need both hands on the drill using the auxiliary handle that came with the drill. no plate needed.
nimrod makes one w/o the handle also.
i use kovac icemaster adapter and it has saved my augers lots of times because of the bungee cord system.

Yes. Nimrod works well. However, after 4 seasons sheared off the shaft that goes into the drill chuck. Replaced with clam plate.

Looks a lot like the handle that comes with the Nero Mini. It works until you get stuck on the bottom of a hole or drill at an angle and then it wrenches your wrist. Like 3300 say's you need both hands on the drill so this doesn't happen. My Handle like that is in my desk drawer.
