Ice Flasher Related Question
« on: Jan 10, 2017, 11:25 PM »
I have a Marcum LX-7 and I was fishing with some friends in a shack this past weekend and I noticed on my flasher screen that I was picking up their jigs as well and it was kind of annoying to see everyone's jig on my screen, causing a lot of clutter. I tried turning the sensitivity down but then I wasn't able to pick up my jig. What other adjustments can I make when fishing in close proximity with other people so that their lures don't show up?

How deep were you fishing? How close together were the holes?

In about 21 feet of water and the closest hole to me was only about 2 feet away from my hole.

Narrow beam, otherwise just spread out more.

narrow beam or use a bigger jig so you can tune his out.
some thing else that may work. keep the ducer an inch in the water, never under the ice plate. this should help too. also try offsetting the ducer to the side of the ice hole his jig is on to try to have the ice hole block the return ping from his jigs. you could have it touching the side of the ice to aim your cone away from his jigs this way too if using the hole alone doesn't cut it.. just make sure it can still see yours is all.

as others have said, try a narrower beam, or spacing out more. Inevitable if their jig is in your cone beam, it will pick it up regardless of turning down the sensitivity.

2 feet is too close. If possible spread out at least 4 feet and as others said use a narrow beam.

In this scenario a camera might serve better.  You can watch your own, disregard the rest.

Don't they have their own flashers?

Don't they know they're not supposed to be on your screen?

Fine tuning you output might work, but once you get deep it's difficult to sort out the readings.

Short of asking them to move farther away, you may just have to deal with it.

I have a LX7 also and if someone is only 2 feet from you in 21 feet, you will see their jig with either 8 or 20 degree setting.    You either need to move or have them move.
