The bay continues to be slow for me. I fished this AM just south of Saunders point. Marked a couple lookers but no takers. While I was fishing a couple guys put out about 600 feet of gill net near me, I'm guessing that's not gonna help things.

Is the  bay safe for fourwheeler travel at this time?

Any areas of concern?

Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys.

The iffy areas I know of are the pressure crack off south yellow gate (cross where the yellow light and the bridge is). The north side of saunders point.(where the shacks were floating and are now frozen in). The mouth of the days river. (unsafe untill your 100yds off shore).  And the north end of buttlers Island. (never safe)

What's the story up there. Are the catches getting better or is it still slow? How far south do you have safe ice?

From what im hearing the perch bite is getting better and theres no walleye to bite.....hopefully the snow cover is gonna help out and get the eyes biting.  Havent been there in a couple weeks myself...just what ive been hearing.  Going to spend a couple nights on the ice next week so hopefully it gets better by then

If it's any indicator on how the fishing has been lately on LBDN, I live 2miles from the bay, but usually drive 30 to 60 miles to fish.

The snow that was on top got a little slushy and were supposed to get another 4 to 8 today but back below zero for lows by the weekend.

What kind of rig do you use for whities?

2 inch shiner on a single plain hook. Jig it about 6" off the bottom and when they come in let it fall right on the bottom. They swim right over to it and suck it up. I use an underwater camera for this technique though.

Went back down yesterday.... It was slow again to say the least.

Fished off the Gladstone Harbor. Marked a decent amount of fish, but no takers all day. We had 8 tip ups out for the 4 of us with only one FAT 26" pike to show for it.. Fished all day...

I'm hoping that it picks up here sometime soon....

Oh, right after we drilled our holes for the morning I started marking a LOT of decent marks all in the hole at the same time. They would follow the jiggin rap all up and down the water column, moving real erratically... I think they were probably whitefish.

Good luck to everyone else...

Marked 3 fish this morning. One was super agressive and slammed my jig rap. Got him on the ice. 28" 8.5lbs. The entire jig rap was half way down his throat. Hopefully this is a start to the turn around.
