OH NO!  A new word...

MUDBUTT

This place will never be the same.

I can't stop laughing!  What a great word!!!!!!

And yes cracks and heaves in the ice while you are on it can certainly lead to MUDBUTT! :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

mudbutt isnt very funny if your out on the ice ;)  but as everyone said the hollow rumblings are good
making ice noises but the quick crack is an uneasy feeling especially beginning of the season

Like a wise person once told me,...listen to the little voice in your head. No matter how thick the ice is there are some sounds and vibrations thru the ice that mean you shouldnt be there and you usually know them right away when you hear them.

on my first ice fishing trip almost 30 yrs ago me and buddies did the normal things teens
 do
we grabbed a case of beer ,looked for what we thought would put a hole in the ice (hatchet with no sharp surfaces so it was safe to use when drunk, fishin rods and misc tackle.
we showed up around 9 to a frozen wonderland.
which we in no way were dressed for .after finally getting 3 holes in the ice we setled in for a good time
after we put a sizeable dent in the beer supply there was a loud gurgle first then a pop then all Heck broke loose we looked like olympic runners going for the gold with the ice vibrating under us
it was probably 75 yards to shore and i think we touched the ice maybe 5 times on the trip .
on shore we started the discussion who was going to get the stuff on the ice .
 ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

some lucky person got a half a case of beer assorted fishing rods and 2 tackle boxes
