Hello, Eric here, new to this board. Split my time between Hutch and the cities. Not new to ice fishing but have my first permanent house this year. Now, if I can just get it on the ice without falling thru! Sold my portable in Nov now think I better get a one man flip over...

Howdy all, my name is Schultz and I live in Eagan, MN.
I've lived in the south metro almost my entire life.
I usually ice fish all over the metro, but this year I've only hit up the St. Croix river in Bayport, which last weekend had 10-11" of ice.
My theory is the power plant warms the water up.
Then when this warmed water flows down stream it makes ice faster and better than what cool/cold water would.
Just like making ice in the freezer...warm water freezes faster.

Good theory... I will shy away from warm moving water though!!

If this cold weather keeps up, we will have good ice on everything quite soon... I'm still waiting for Mille Lacs to lock up myself...

I hear that! I'm really happy to see that we're expecting a low around -2F Thursday morning.
I suspect plenty of folks will be driving on the ice this coming weekend around here.

It's gonna go super fast with no snow. Some of the lakes in the Mille Lacs neighborhood already had 10-14 inches before this cold weather, and it is supposed to continue. I just wish we had just a little bit of snow so I didn't have to worry about melting the hyfax on my snowmobile! I need to put some scratchers on it!

Hello Everyone my name is Bill I live in Brooklyn Park and fish quite a bit. I stumbled across this site when I was looking up ideas on building a wheeler. I narrowed it down to a 6'6"x16'. My brother is fabing up my frame in WI in his metal shop so I can build this spring. I fish pelican and buffalo alot but every year we (12-16) fo us take a vacation to Lake of the woods. This is an awesome site.

Im from Northern Minnesota (Iron Range) and fish all over! My primary love is flying into Ontario Canada for lake Trout fishing. I also like to fish Lake of the Woods for Walleyes and Saugers. I fish local lakes for crappies and try to get out as much as I can!
