I was out with a friend on Bald Eagle (near White Bear) on sat and sun, everywhere we punched a hole it was 5.5"-6.5".

Grew up fishing, but never really understood ice fishing. Moved to MN last fall and got tired of sitting in doors all winter. Ended up getting hooked. Haven't had a chance to get out yet this year, but hopefully after the first of the year. Spend most of my time fishing Whaletail and Waconia. I hope to do some exploring this year. Best catch last year was a 16 1/2" crappie. Gonna try to figure out walleye this year. Tried some last year, but all I ever caught were perch. I suppose it takes time to learn just like everything else.

Metro ice from what I hear is anywhere from 5" to 8". I will be heading out Monday and will have a updated report at the time! Good luck to all and a very Merry Christmas.

Hi. My name is Scott and I live in South St Paul. I'm a transplant from Up State New York and moved here 20 yrs ago after getting out of the Army. I have been Ice Fishing for the past 5-6 years now and love it. A friend of mine got me hooked when he invited me up to Lake Of The Woods to fish with a group of guys that have been going up to Ballards for years. Love IT UP THERE. We go the first weekend in Jan so this coming week was been like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. Can't wait to try out two PK Flutter Fish that I just bought last week. I have been fishing Bald Eagle, North Center, Bone Lake and Lakes 1 & 2 in Forest Lake. Got to say Bald Eagle and North center were great for Crappies. I will post pics for Lake Of The Woods when I get back.

It's funny you mention it, because a very large part of our membership is from Upstate NY. Tons and tons of the guys who fish out there use this site!

I plan on fishing Mille lacs, LOW and several smaller lakes in the Deer River area. I am really looking forward to getting out on the ice.

This is my first year ice fishing and so far I'm loving it but would love it better if the weather was a little colder for some more ice. Usually fishing in the Buffalo area but I plan to hit up Mille Lacs and LOW.

First off my name is Jeremy I live in NE Mpls, I have been Ice fishing for as long as I can recall going out with my Grandpa on the backwater near Wabasha MN. But within the last few years I have been having to pick up my own gear since I moved to the Cities. I fish most lake between 35e and 35w north of HWY 36 during the week and on weekend I head to the cabin off of Big Sauk Lake year round (I always catch more fish with ice then on a boat up there). Josephine, Johanna, Owasso? There is actually a whole pile of lakes in that Arden Hills, Roseville, Shoreview, Lil Canada area!

You are correct lake yea I pulled a few blue gill threw the ice there the guys that are into spearing love this lake.

This year has been slow for people on the ice I guess most people are to lazy to drag a sled across a lake? I use my Cabala's black portable untill it fails again then planning on upgrading
