Here in British Columbia we're not allowed to use any kind of fish as bait, that includes store bought, dead or alive, guts, eyeballs etc.

So I am interested in any alternatives that may be offered here.

Beef heart? Pork? Any experience with or suggestions?

Pork fat works great as bait for Pike and Perch

I like to buy a package of the fattiest side pork (just plain, not smoked or flavored in any way) from the grocery store and put about a 3/4" - 1" cube on the treble.

Nice thing about pork fat is that it stays on very good when jigging....
