Hooks
« on: Jan 07, 2011, 02:52 PM »
Alright, theirs plenty of talk about leader but I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on hooks, I tend to opt for the gamakatsu circle and octopus hooks, and the pretty big ones at that. Just wondering if people tend to have more success on Big hooks or small, and what type?

I like either 3/0 gamakatsu octupus hooks, or #4 trebels.

I have a pack of Lazer Sharps version of the octupus hook. Like these a little better for the fact that the barb is slightly outside the shank of the hook, see to hook better.

I just got some of the Gamakatsu up-eye shiner hooks to see if they would be any better than the standard straight eye shiner hook and I really like them so far.  The up-eye keeps the bait upright and I've been 10 for 10 on hookups and all have been in the corner of the mouth.
