Jiggin for Pike
« on: Feb 18, 2009, 02:43 PM »
Does anyone do a significant amount of jigging for pike? I love sight fishing in my clam shelter, seeing pike come into a handline minnow or lure that I am jigging with. The only pike I have caught jigging has come on a small rapala. They seem to love inspecting jigs or a minnow but I have trouble getting them to commit. I just purchased some larger lures to try and target them jigging instead of just getting incidental sightings when jigging with panfish lures. I would think it would be easier to catch more jigging with the amount that come to inspect a lure or sitting minnow  as you could trigger a bite on less active fish but this has yet to prove itself.
