Just called the Slough a few minutes ago, recorded message with no information as to lake conditions. With no ice report the lake will be only open to waterfowl hunting until Feb. 10th unless safe ice happens before then.

Received a call from a die hard that always gets there at first safe ice. Report was 3” and between 2 of them they pulled over 200 Gil’s and threw back half. I saw the pictures tonight and I am jealous that I could not get off of work to join them. It’s going to be a very short season around here if the weather stays the way it has been.

I hope they threw back more than half, if 2 guys caught 200. 🤔

Not necessarily.  The daily bag limit for bluegills is nonexistent.  There are exceptions.  Just be aware of what the regulations are.

willow slough has special limits. 25 panfish total and 2 bass over 18".  If you look at the link you posted it shows that.

I forgot what post I was on.  Yeah, I knew the slough had special limits.  I was thinking I was in a different post and was speaking in more general terms.  Forgive me.

Back in the day limits of 10s were possible. Not so much anymore. They have been spraying invasive plants but the cattails have vanished. That is why they will begin draining it next year.

So, they did decide to drain it next year 2021 then. Last I heard they put a hold on those plans.

I guess I misspoke. I said next year. As far as I know the draining will start this spring. If that changed, I haven't heard about it.

In the spring of 2022 is when the project will start. Fishing will be closed for a year. Before they drain it they will loosen restrictions to get some extra fish removed. Look out for the beards. LOL

I've always wonder why the slough has ice before lakes in my area which are straight east about 70 miles. I am guessing its because its so shallow, is that right.

I was reading somewhere today that according to Mike ( Slough manager,) he said 2022 is when it will start. You know how they get crap all screwed up. Guess time will tell. If suppose to start this spring you would think that the limits should be relaxed thur ice season. NOW????
