This is really funny! This guy must really miss ice fishing to do this to his boat. You have to watch the whole thing to see everything he does. He is speaking Swedish and the stuff he says is really funny too but you don't have to speak Swedish to get the humor and how much he loves ice fishing.

Jig setups like that are really common in Scandinavia. You just put a couple in a backpack and they take up hardly any room. I have no idea where you would get one here in the US? Everybody over here uses the little poles with little spinning reels on them that look like a spinning rod for a midget. I think I will try and get some palm rods over here and make them into a setup like that.

Not. With the marmish you hand line and lay the line on the ice. could freeze or tangle. this rig the line is coiled on the 2 rods and free spools off in seconds. Never on the ice or in the way.

This is awesome! I just have to comment on this even though it's old. That guy is the mayor in the city where I live. We are both members of the same fishing club and we go to ice fishing tournaments together. The title of the video is something like "The Mayor and his ice fishing boat (pimple boat)". The stick is what we call a "Varpspö" and is great for tournament fishing when you don't want competitors to notice that you are catching fish. Turn your back towards them and they won't be able to see, if you're good. Requires a little (a lot) practice. Usually with regular palm rods you can tell that a person is catching because of the hand and arm movements. And yes, he is serious about it. He really misses ice fishing in the summer. He's thinking about adding a second hole to allow his friend (my uncle) to join him in pre-season ice fishing.

The stick is made of carbon fiber and is developed by a friend of mine who is also a member of the same club. He's actually the reigning Swedish Champion in ice fishing and a great angler. This video was the first time the Mayor tried the stick.

Here is a picture of the regular palm rod and the varpspö (varp rod? warp rod? warping rod? not sure what to call it.)

This carbon set, one of each, is really expensive. My friend sells is for about $150, so you have to be really sold on it to buy that.

There are cheaper sticks for around $10-30. Something like this.

Yes it does remind me of Dave Genz's Holey boat.
Dave says he had the boat built partially to test ice fishing jigs during the summertime and see how the do on the fish and how they show up on the Vexilar.
