Drifter nice  photo interesting how it appears the smaller lake is ice free while what i assume is Great Slave is still covered with ice. I think topic title is an inside joke between Drifter and member Akdube who after Drifter posted the same or similar photo in the Still ice fishing in AK. thread replied "I believe that is the only thing still hard up there" or similar words.

Some of the lakes I have been to in canada seem like in September they never dethawed fully..  kinda prehistoric type fishing.  As if the fish never evolved to warm.. if you will  but ya the fishing is awesome up there.

to bad fuel was .89cents a liter when we stopped going to canada cost to damn much  to travel there's aprox 4 liters to a gallon of gas.. our gas was .89 a gallon. At that time so we were paying 4x as much for great fishing..

oh ya I seen on the news today there is Canadian foest fires giving michigan a haze in the sky. hope this don't effect ya  this was today!

One on the 300 Lakes on the Grand Mesa last week still had 42" of ice. They are still ice fishing here in Colorado but I would never get on ice this late in the year. Mushy and it is geting hot. They also had 26"  snow last week.

The lake in the pic is Prosperous Lake just North of Yellowknife.
It's the lake my cabin is on. The reason it's still frozen is because of it's depth.
Over 400' deep at it's deepest spot. The smaller lakes that are open are shallower and warm faster.
This sat image was taken on May 28th. The lake in the red circle is the same one in the original image.
You can see how much smaller it is than Great Slave. :)

Drifter thank you for the reply and information on lakes in your  area . You certainly have plenty of water to fish.

That's interesting, I thought they'd do it a little farther north.
