We drove out to Sugarloaf yesterday without engaging 4 wheel drive. The parking lot is mostly bare. The ice is 8 plus inches but very slick to walk on.
Ice cleats are a must for me anyway.

Speaking of sugerloaf, how is the fishing general out of sugarloaf as compared to the northern access points?

When we left the ice at 4 pm it was raining good.  There wasn't much snow on the ice but I'm guessing it's going to be messy today.

Just seen an update on FB.  4 inches of standing water on the ice.

The road in is bare pavement into the parking lot.  The ice is 7-8 inches and there is water on top of the ice, very few spots of slush.  The deepest I've seen the water is a couple of inches with most being less than an inch--- plenty of spots without water.  There is a pressure ridge  off of the north side of the island  extending to the west.  With the warm temperatures  didn't feel like crossing.

Headed to Cascade early to fire up the new gas auger for the first time.  Icing some quality perch would be a bonus ;)
