Swedish Pimple?
« on: Sep 22, 2010, 07:39 PM »
Just a couple questions on these. For Perch, does anyone use BOTH the RED and YELLOW little flappers or just the RED one or none at all. Do most guys switch the trebles to a single hook and lastly, they come with a small silver split ring ( not attached)  in the package. Is this for putting on top to tie your line to? Wonder why it is not attached from the factory? Thanks in advance as I have never tried these.

Personally I use the red flapper or no flapper at all and sometimes I put the extra split ring on top and tie off to it and sometimes not. I also prefer the single hook although I like the dropper chains on the Schuck's lures jigger minnow and I plan to add one of these to my favorite pimple along with a trebel I got from Fredric at Proscandinavia for a bit of a different look this year.

I've been meaning to set them up since I got the trebels so when I saw your post I slapped them together. That's gonna be the new presentation this upcoming season, like I said I usually use the single hook with a waxie or minnow but hopefully the new look will produce.

Sorry, no pics.  But I do use the red flappers only and I'm about to take my trebles off and replace with a single and drop chain.

Those swivels look like a great idea! I gotta try it...
I used FastSnaps, its advantage is to easily remove the hook to place a minnowhead over the shaft?

I use the red flappers and use a single vs a treble. Fish mostly for perch, gills and crappie and find that the smaller presentations tend to work better.

Does any companies sell the red flippers seperately?  Or,any color for that matter.
Last year I was making my own, but the plastic became brittle in the cold and would snap.

I've often thought of crafting my own glow flappers, but now that I've heard of one other success story, I guess I better get around to it. ;D

I would just use glow stickers and stick in on.

I picked up a sheet of colored styrene today at the local hobby shop.  Made a cutter out of a copper tube.  I can punch a bunch of flipper now.  We'll see how they work.
