Very resourceful. I'm off to the garage now.

Thanks for the details.

Both the "ghetto bucket" and the fake weed bed are simply awesome ideas. Where else other than iceshanty would you find such ideas and the great men/women to share them.. I have learned so much from this site, thanks to all...

I would just like to say THANK YOU to the man who started the "suspended minnow trap" idea.  It is single handedly, THE MOST, ingenious idea I have ever come across in my entire career of fishing(not that it's been that long).  But nonetheless, THE MOST, ingenious idea!!!  Here is what I was able to procure at the local Meijer using one clear hamster ball and one package of clear glass rocks:

I left the rocks inside the package so that when I empty the minnows out there will be less of a mess.  My dad had made one of these out of a pickle jar, but I figured if the light could penetrate through the container, there would be a shadow from the minnows.  I'll let you know how it works tomorrow evening.

Well, I thought the hamster ball would be good in theory...just ended up breaking in the bucket!!! >:( Ended up using a gatorade bottle with holes in it...polock style ;D  Still not much luck though.

LOL...Ditch the ball and just use the hamster....great muskie bait. LOL

I really dont think thatthe color of the bottle cap should be an issue.  With that in mind...Diet Sprite has or had caps on them with no color.....

maybe if we painted the lid a bright color, it would attract them in?

The bright orange cap was there, but there was no crappie in the area(we had camera)  So I couldn't tell you if the cap helped or hindered.

is it really? Whats the law state that goes against it ???
using game fish as bait is illegal, but ive shown a couple of dnr officers that method with a 2liter when fishing and had no problem.

Its a bunch of plastic weeds, aligned like a weed bed. It has a weight on it and I guess you sink it down your hole and it draws the fish in.

id assume if you gave it about 15 mins it would bring them in. You could probably drop it down the hole, do your walking around and come back in a bit and give that hole with the weeds a shot again

Works well on a lake that lacks structure.  Find a dropoff or point and drop your weed bed there.  Fish like you would any natural structure.
