Title: 1/1@11
Post by: Hambone77 on Jan 02, 2015, 12:28 AM
Headed up to the mile this morning with my 9 year old son. When we got there my truck was telling me  it was -25.  So we hurried out, set up the hut, drilled some holes and fired up the heater. It took almost two hours before we started  seeing fish. Then the fish started coming through about once an hour.I caught 5 my son also caught 5 all fish were 17-18" footballs with the exception of an aggressive 20" bow that about ripped the rod out of my hand. We also lost three at the hole. We were using chartreuse trout magnets in 12-14 fow. All in all it was a fun day at the mile.

Sounds like a real good time. -25 is really cold. How was the ice? thickness? Snow cover ?

Nice job on the fishing! I had it at -26 in the morning, By 10 AM it was still -16. We got more snow yesterday than I was expecting. The few people I talked to weren't seeing anything. I managed
two small pike and a trout yesterday. I've been seeing more pike than trout.

Ice thickness was about 10" maybe 11. There was about 3-5" of snow. It was snowing on and off for a good part of the day. We had lots of action on trout, I didn't see any pike but I'm pretty sure my son did. He says" dad, I just saw a monster cruising up high"
