This Years New Spearing/Fishing Shack
« on: Nov 20, 2014, 06:28 PM »
So i have a 7.5x16 party shack that i usually use for sturgeon spearing every year and decided last year that i was gonna start taking the sport more seriously after opening weekend so i came up with the idea to build a SMALL and LIGHTWEIGHT shack that i can lift and throw into the back of my truck and take anywhere. Ended up deciding on going with a 4x6 shack with 5'3" side walls. I got some used paneling from my cousin for free and all the lumber i got for free since i build houses for a living and there happens to be leftovers at the job site. The only thing that i had to pay for was the steel and little odds and ends like hooks and and such. Well onto the pics

2x6 runners with 2x4 framing members with 1/2" osb floor with 1" foil face foam insulation in cavities.

Walls framed
roof framed
paneling on
Roof on
Insulating inside
Overall View
Painted with corners on
Inside Painted Black
Front View
Fits into bed of my Truck
Door on. made door with leftover steel from roof and leftover aluminum from jobs.
Carpet in and ready for fishing and spearing

Nice, love the fact that it was almost free.  I am a self employed contractor too and bring home tons of leftovers, that I usually cut up to burn in my icehut.  My hut is made almost totally out of recycled materials, I just had to buy the chimney parts.  Nice job, and good luck with the sturgeon.

well power company just installed new underground lines at house im building and threw left over scraps of 3" round 1/4" plastic pipe in the dumpster so i snagged them up. plan on cutting them in half lengthwise and screwing them to the bottom of my runners to make her slide better and protect the wood. big score. got enough for my shack and prolly 3 more they are so wasteful

Worked on the shack this weekend and got it all finished up. Added the 2 to make it the "Blue Deuce", added plastic pipe i got from dumpster and cut in half to the bottom of the runners to make it slide crazy easy, also built shelf inside for my fish camera to sit on and to finish it off i built a window cover to shut out all light for spearing. Enjoy the Pics and thanks for looking!
