Thermos
« on: Dec 04, 2011, 02:24 PM »
I have a Stanley wide mouth thermos and it doesn't keep stuff warm but for a few hours. I prep it with boiling water, then add the hot soup. After 5 to 6 hours it is cold.
Any suggestions on a thermos that will keep stuff hot for 8 hours?

TIA,

Eric

I had a stainless steel Stanley for coffee and it was the same deal. It would keep the coffee hot for a couple of hours, but once you broke the seal and poured your first cup, it cooled down fairly quickly. You might want to find a small heater(sterno) and a pan to reheat it. The thermos might last when in a warmer environment like at work, but not as long in freezing temps. Good luck!! :icefish:

They've got a lifetime replacement guarantee.  If it's not keeping your stuff hot or cold, contact them and they'll replace the defective one.

I have a Thermos brand coffee thermos and I love it.  Keeps coffee HOT all day long in cold weather and for days in the summer.  It's not the wide mouth that works so well for soups but maybe they make one.  It looks like a black plastic thermos.  Not a high dollar unit either, 20 something.  I'm sure there's better out there but will cost ya.

I just bought one of those widemouth thermoses. I filled it with hot water and set it out for 4 hours this morning. It held pretty well.

Tells you how bad the Ice fishing is when on Jan 2 we are chatting about   Thermos crap and not how "was the fishing". What lakes are hitting and good stuff like that...... I can't believe we had completely  open lakes in SE Nebraska on Jan.1

I sent a 1/2-gallon Stanley thermos back to the manufacturer a couple years back because it wouldn't retain heat.  Stanley sent it back to me with a note explaining that I had owned it too long for the lifetime guarantee to be honored.  Figure that one out. . . ???
