Maine saltwater smelt fishing regulations
« on: Aug 26, 2010, 01:20 PM »
Does antone know if Maine has changed their catch limit on saltwater smelt this year I've called Maine Inland fisheries they transfered me to someone else then to someone else and on and so on with on answer I live in N.H. and love to go Down Maine(LOL) saltwater smelt fishing I usually get a 5 gal pail or more  down here in N.H. they are always messing with the rivers and estuaries and that drives the smelt away. There was aplace in portsmouth were I use to go off the rt.1 bypass and catch almost 10 qts. which is the N.H. limit the state fixed the bridge and changed the whole bottom of the river there and screwed up the fishing.A biologist I met says every time people mess with these areas it takes 10 - 15 years for them to come back the way they were.jigginfool55
