Anyone pick up a Strikemaster 40 volt?
« on: Jan 01, 2018, 11:52 AM »
I don’t need a new auger but I was eyeing the new Strikemaster 40 volt. Comes with an extra battery. It has mora blades (don’t know anything about them).  I’d like to know from people around here (Saskatchewan) how they perform in the cold.
Get outside.  It does a body and mind good!

I seen that strikemaster and it looks good. I also seen that Trophy strike 120 v auger. But the ion X has a 8 & 10 inch auger.

Got one this year but haven't used it much. Last time out drilled probably 30 holes in 14 inches of ice and battery was down one bar. Drilled quite fast compared to the ion. I would imagine you just have to look after the battery like keeping it warm and charging when finished. Will be interesting to see how it does when we get into really thick ice.

It has mora blades (don’t know anything about them).

i have used both 6 and 8" moras with my milwaukee drill and both chewed through the ice.  as long as they have "made in sweden" stamped on em they'll hold an edge good and are pretty easy to sharpen.

Bought one this year, only have 4 inches of ice but I had to try it. I'm happy with the results. Drilled about 60 holes with it, battery hasn't budged. Time will tell though.

Better than the 1st generation Ion, probably comparable to the new Ion X.

Anyone use an electric in a 10 inch recently with the ice thicker. Don't wanna drop the cash if it won't drill enough holes in a day for me. Thanks
