Sounds like an interesting time about 30 years ago. I know that folks in that part of the country do ice fishing right. Ice Castles are the norm. if anyone reading has never been in one, google it. I was in Minnesota on Lake of the Woods three years ago I think it is now the same weekend that the NFL league championship games were going to be televised. Lines upon lines of ice castles with their mounted satellite dishes arrived in droves on Friday to get set up for the long 3 day weekend. Mini cities are erected on the ice. Quite a spectacle.
