Post by: appleye on Jan 28, 2019, 06:53 PM: Man that was a fun watch! I've made 8 trips to the gorge and the biggest I've landed was in 12lbs. hooked a few good ones that I lost. Fired up to try again.

Curious what kind of rods everyone was using? Yours appear to be ugly sticks? Didn't recognized the bait casters.

Scott, the rods Chris was using are custom rods. There’s a handful of guys around here that make the custom laker rods. They’re all $150-$200. I broke two of them and after the second one I said screw this and went back to the rods I know so well! I think they’re $60 at sportsman’s warehouse.

Copy that. I have frankanized an ugly stick to a heavy bait caster with a spiral wrap. Didn't recognize the blanks, looked a hair light LOL.

Hahaha you also may have noticed the bud light. It’s the only thing that kept me out there. That and the fact that this was the first go in a good laker spot.

Although I am a pup catcher and haven't had the opportunity for the big one's, I like my three ugly stick heavey action 4' 9" rods. $40, five guides nice stiff butts.

You remind me of myself but you are much better than I every was. For when i was young I lived outdoors. there were no distractions back in the 70's 80's I did not like the class room I was always looking out the window.
You are a very inspiring for all of us and very deserving.

I’m hopeful that that passion shines through, and if it does, then mission accomplished! This is the first video I’ve put out where I went “man this is really cool, but the language in it may even turn me off if I was watching.” BUT it was the way it happened and I decided to roll with it. The reactions have been better than I even hoped for.
