so, there are a few lakes I want to try out.. but I am not sure what kind of fish are in there.. does anyone have any tips on bait to use to find out???

If you go to the minnesota dnr website there is a spot on there called lake finder it goes by county or lake name it will tell you what fish the dnr have stocked and netted out of just about any lake.

hey, thanks.. i can't find the lake on there.. i suppose there is no other way to tell huh?.. i mean, any bait that a variety of fish would bite???

I guess it is hard to say what to use I would go with a crappie minnow or wax worm PM me the name of the lake and the county it is in and I will see what I can find out for you.

It's just an itty bitty lake... The name I know it by is McKinney Lake.. off of highway 2 in Brookston...

Not to say you are wrong but are you sure it is not McKinley Lake. If it is I looked that lake up looks to be in the same area but on everything I can find there is no lake data so. If it is like the lakes in my area with no data it is probally not worth fishing

ok, that may be the name of the lake, but it is off of Highway 2.. not this lake shown.... thanks for trying though.. I just don't know where to go, I am not familiar with tha lakes from around this area; I just moved here about 7 months ago.. and when I fished in the summer, I just drove back to the river by my old place...

the best thing to do is just ask some of the locals in the area they will know more than anyone else

Hit up the bait shops for info. A crappie minnow will catch anything as will larva.

Thanks.. I think I will give it a try.. because sometimes even the locals don't know what's lurking in the waters....
