Is our ice going to make it?
« on: Jan 07, 2008, 12:26 PM »
I sure hope the ice we have doesn't come all the way off. At the least 2.5" of mush hanging around could refreeze in a hurry, but if the lid comes off the bigger lakes we are in for....... ??? damn it man

Just got back from Potato Creek State Park and the only ice left is at the boat ramps. The rain we get will take the rest of that.

This weather in Indiana is so marginal :%$#!: I was talking to some locals at the NAIFC in Minnesota and told them i was from Indiana and the guy said " i didn't even know you guys were able to ice fish that far south."
Well isn't that just about the truth.

I checked yesterday on a lake they have been getting on and the ice was already GONE! I about crapped. No ice at all. I've never seen it leave in 24 hrs like that.  the day before there were several people out there, now nothing. There couldn't have been much more than 2 1/2" - 3" to start, going that fast.  Rain and 65 today. I am seriously thinking about taking the boat out if it stays warm like this much longer..... gettin' crazy....

My favorite "on the way home from work" pond finally locked up nicely way down here in Fishers just in time for a 65 degree weekend with rain. DANG! I really wanted to fire up my new vex!  >:( might have to practice off of a dock or something.

Yesterday on the way home from work I drove by a lake and there was only a small chunk of ice floating, the rest of the lake was all open water, I'm sure the rain last night took care of that ice chunk.  Was going to go steelheading today but the river is blown out too.

With Global Warming, you boys would be best off selling your ice fishing stuff...or moving north.  You might not have too many seasons left!

Not that it is a whole lot better up here, most lakes in my area don't have more than 12" of ice and its pretty squishy stuff.

Here I am at work ,it's a nice warm sunny day, my boat is all ready to go and I have decided to go fishing right after work today. I can be on the water by 3:30 at Potato Creek State Park and then I realized I can't even get down to the barn to get the boat out because of the flooding I have at my house. come on cold DRY weather. ???

The weather I watch shows precipitation every day for the next 7 days, although some days it's not much. Soon it should be turning into snow which is not quite as bad as rain, as far as the flooding problem goes.

Eventually all of that flooded water is going to freeze and that might cause even more problems.

As you know the weather man is not always 100% accurate so don't rely solely on that.
