When I was about 6 years old or so my dad brought me and my friend out on the ice. I remember the snow was so deep my friend and I were only able to get around by following in my dads foot steps in the snow. The snow was about chest high for me.. waist high for my dad who is 5'10.

So ya, it's over man just pack up all your gear and throw in the garage

The current local weather here is calling for around 12" sat night into sunday. That usually blows off Oneida before long. I see two different predictions for temps next week one calling for -17 on Monday night. Regardless the forcast for the near future is very cold. The jet stream is bringing artic air down and its supposed to be around for awhile. I think the ice is going to be fine.

I don’t think it will ruin it, but it couldn’t come at a worse time really, just getting a good base and really cold temps after. Gonna make the trek by foot more difficult

It will make for light travel,just a bucket for rods and tackle and auger,when you get to where you want,build a igloo!

Use your Smitty sled when the snow is deep. It doesn't snow everyday but the wind blows. Wind is a fishermen's friend as well as his nemesis. Wind blows lakes clear quit often. If your fearful of the thin ice under the deep snow give it a couple of day or week and let the wind do its thing.

Pray that wind comes with it. It may not be too bad.
Our southern bays (On Lake George) will have a decent enough base to handle it by the time it comes.
I'm willing to bet most of it is blown out of the middle and we just have to deal with massive drifts before we get out on the open lake.
Here's to hoping anyway.
