Which is better Creek Minnows or Bait Shop

Catching minnows in the creek this year to try them. Have had hit and miss luck with bait shop minnows and keeping them alive. Possibly a result of how the shops maintain the tanks. Just curious what others are doing. The shop I had the best luck with burnt last summer and will not be rebuilding. I have a stream on each side of my property so I have plenty of access for my traps.

I never bought too many minnows from bait shops. My two main reasons, 1) free bait 2) natural to the environment bait. I like both of those things, the fish seem to like the second.

It doesn't sound that appealing to most people I talk to, but going out onto a frozen lake and staring into a hole for the day is my favorite thing to do.

it depends? ive found trout stocked lakes have huge bass and nothing stirs them up like a rainbow peach pussed chub! and lakes with alewifes seems shiners are a better choice?the best choice is live minnies any kind and on the tough days lil ones

Some of the there bass addicts out on ole lake moraine but dem creek chubs like a junky chasing crack😂😂😂😂

 Buddy used to swear that creek minnows(dace in this case) were best. One spring during crappie time we got  2dz at the creek, then on the way to the lake I stopped and got 2dz fatheads. He used the dace I used the fatheads the result not enough of of a difference to matter. And since we used a net for the dace buying fatheads  was a whole lot easier and faster.... ;D

Ive used creek minnows, but I have had the best luck with medium shiners
