This is the kit I just bought at Thorne Bros. I will build it myself when it arrives.

Looking forward to using it this winter.  Will keep you posted on how it actually performs.

Two videos:

1. DIY on how to construct the kit.
2. DIY on how to build the custom Power Cable.

This is pretty sweet. I can't say that I don't want one but damn, $3k?

It is a lot of money but...it still cost less than:
- a boat
- a large motor
- an ATV
- a snowmobile
- an ice castle
- many other toys I have

Ha! From your list, I only have a boat. My boat is a $500 two person mini bass boat with only a transom mounted trolling motor to power it.  I just got last years ice pack, with the ps22 but not the updated touchscreen. I chuckle every time I’ve used it so far, I’m trolling around with electronics that worth more than everything else in my boat combined. But since it’s portable, I just take the mounting bracket off my motor and take it with me to fish in any of my friends boats.

Seamonkey,

I can relate. I typically fish in smaller or narrow hard-to-access lakes.

I decided against the Bass Boat thing and bought a used Grumman Sportboat and a trailer - like a square stern canoe.

I customized it for me and the electronics cost me far more than the boat.

I needed a remote deploying Ulterra because it is nearly impossible to climb forward to deploy trolling motor. It only comes in 24V so I added batteries.

I have a Humminbird Solix and a Honda engine.  The Solix drives the motor (follows contours and lines I draw on the map). Next year I will put the Panoptix right next to me in back do I can aim it where I want to explore.  The boat was the least expensive part.

  • Rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6.
Give it a couple years they'll be other cheaper options.
I dont even have $3k into my wheeler and snowmobile combined.
Boat another story.

Can you just order the bag and plastic inserts? I can only find this kit for 300+ but includes battery and transducer. Thanks in advance!

Removing the bag to re-charge the batteries has to be a pain. Layout other than that fairly impressive.
