Water was clear on Saturday, likely a result of the stiff current from the north. Can only tell you to use bait other than what we tried... which was everything!

We didn't catch much on sunday, and in the middle of the channel south of the bridge it was cloudy. Other than that the ice is completely in tact with no water on top, and the shorelines are fine. We always go for lake trout, but people catch salmon up by the bridge where the smelt are too.

The Crown Point Boat Ramp has some thin ice just getting on but I ran into 10 to 12 in north side of the bridge as of yesterday. Also just a warning for the ice under the bridge it looks sketchy but I did not go close

Thanks for the input!  I’ve got a spot roughly 5 miles north of the bridge I can fish; I’m just trying to get a feel for the ice thickness & shorelines before making the hour drive...

Tip Up !!!

Where can a guy park his truck at Potash?

From Google Maps it looks like Van Ornum Rd. dead ends and there is some type of gravelly shoreline, didn't see any posted signs on street view.

I don't think there is any parking at potash, we cross the field on snowmobiles once ,as we were with a man that had permission, I think when its safe go south from Arnolds...

Catching big fish is like winning the door prize!
Have to be there to win!!!!
