Kdrill vs laser??
« on: Jan 20, 2018, 11:41 PM »
I've done lot of searches and see laser vs nils. But I never see the kdrill go up against a laser or nils. Any one have a 6" kdrill and want to race is western SD?

Can any of you guys with the nero mini try and film a race against a kdrill?

The Kdrill has its positive attributes, speed is not one of them, its the slowest of the bits being utilized by guys running drill augers...

I love my K Drill but will say it is slower than most. I did race a guy with a 6 inch Nills mine was 4 seconds slower. The K Drill shines for weight and you can re drill holes or overlap holes if wanted. Just my 2 cents.

I believe the K-Drill is easier on the drill motor.

I can tell you this. I was out on a lake one day and one guy to my left had a 4"Nils with an older Dewalt , The guy on my right had a 6" Kdrill with a 750 Milwalkee. I own the Rdigid Brushless and the Nero Mini 7". I was way faster than either one of those. It was only 7" of ice and I can go through it in about 3-3.5 seconds.
That being said I started slowing down to ensure I get a straight hole and punch through slowly.

I take that back I think the guy with the kDrill was an 8".

Who cares about a few seconds. It is all about weight and ease of use.

True!

Weight first and $$ second...

I wanted an 8" hole, and Mora was the lightest..

So I went with a Mora 8 1/2" bit...

Lightest, cheapest, faster....

I think the auger wars are boys being boys.....lol. We always have that competitive nature to measure are........

If there is anything I've found out over the years of buying, selling, and using augers its that expensive augers aren't really worth the extra money.....All of today's augers do a great job cutting holes with sharp blades.
