Trying to get into lake trout fishing this winter. I’m trying to find my own spots and I’m looking for any help I can get on water depth, points, humps, rocky, weedy.. etc. I’m using the navionics app to find potential spots but I’d like to know exactly what area and depths to target. Thanks!

40 to 60 feet is a nice zone

I Like to fish for them with deep water in the area. I fish for the lakers from just beneath the ice and down to 15 '  I have good luck by placing my bait a various depth to 15'. Good luck.

I fish mine in 15 to 25 feet on sharp steep edges that get down to 50-60 FOW at least.  Jig head tipped with a 3 to 4 inch swimbait, big flashy spoon or lipless shiner crankbait.

I’ve never fished for them in the winter. Just jigged a little bit in the summer for them. What is considered a “good day”?

If you are in a good spot, its not unheard of to catch over a dozen if you have a finder and jigs they like.

Anywhere safe to catch lakers right now?  Preferably champlain?

Places off tabors and chimney point, but heard trout fishing hasn't been turned on yet there.
