Canyon Ferry
« on: Jan 09, 2018, 12:00 PM »
New to the forum and ice fishing all together, fished around the silos about 5 times now with little success just trying to gain a little more knowledge al together any advice would be appreciated. Right now I usually have 3-4 dead sticks with various jig heads maggots, crawlers and jig a spoon or something in the shack. Trout are fun but would like to target some perch or walleye.

How much water are you fishing in and at what depth?

I haven’t fished CF in a few years, but what worked for me was to head north from the Silos...find 25 to 30 feet of water...drop your jig to the bottom and crank up a turn. We used various jigs but black or chartreuse where my go to.

This is my first post to gain access to other pages on this site. I love to fish especially ice fish. Looking for tips to hook some walleye on Canyon Ferry this winter. I caught a small one last weekend in 48 FOW on a perch jiG on the east side of the lake. FISH ON!!

If you want to catch walleye CF is not the lake to ice fish spend the time to drive to peck. Its a lake more for the fun of fishing and being out and take what you get basically. Its a pretty poor body of water to ice fish overall, but the perch you do catch will be nice. Take into account that i don't count trout fishing quality because I hate them.
