Any reports on ice conditions in the Backwaters?
-
Does anyone have an ice report on the Backwaters. Any info would be appreciated.

People are just starting to get it there man. And in most cases are risking alot to do so as well. Even just checking ice is risky rn. I'm sure someone will be checking soon we all have the itch rn. Hopefully by this weekend if the snow doesn't pay in to thick we will all be starting to see more people getting out there

Thanks for the reply CrappieJigger29. I had heard rumors that there is 4 or more inches of ice in the Backwaters.
No other place in Northeast Indiana has that kind of ice, so I figured that it probably was not true.
And if it was true, I did not know if anyone would want to admit to it, because it would get over run with ice fisherman. LOL!

That's for sure. N who knows it could be but my guess is probably not. I've checked smaller ponds that don't even have 3 in yet

I spent the morning going around Backwater, Kuhn, and several of the lakes at Tri-county. No body has been out more than a few feet to check the ice. Still open water along shores in several spots, I didnt see any ice I would chance it on.

I did talk to two amish guys who said that they were out on Sparta, but I didnt go that far. They claimed there was about 2 1/2 inches on Sparta...
-
I was told they had fished it but ice got bad ..
-
Yeah ice isn't the best. But I braved a pond in valpo this morning before I had to head into work.
-
Yeah, we are all itchin to get out. Next week should add some safe ice if the snow doesn't smother what is already there. Be safe until then.
-
Got out today. Ice is very inconsistent. 4 inches here and 1.5 not far away. Be safe.
