Wheelhouse maiden voyage
« on: Mar 10, 2015, 03:19 PM »
I got the Wheelhouse done in time to get it out once before the season was done. Everything worked well. I really didn't have anything that I thought needed redone, or rethought. We went to Nelson, and the fishing wasn't too bad. I think we ended up with 15 walleyes and 10 pike. Not one fish speared. We saw one really big walleye and 7 others maybe 5 lbs. and under, and only one 10 lb-ish pike. I missed two of the walleyes!

These are the cracks under the house after we moved it Sunday night.

We slept in it and man you should have heard and felt it when it cracked! Needless to say I slept much better Sunday night on dry ground!

I saw you guys out there.  I was in the green Quick Flip about 200 yards farther out.  I'm glad you guys caught some fish.  I got several small walleye and nothing else.  I guess the fish are moving shallow.

I forgot one picture. This is probably the biggest benefit of this rig, in my opinion! The ability to load everything in the trailer/house for transport to the lake. The second ATV goes in the truck bed. I plan to always take the flipover Otter too so that I will have every fishing option available.

Yeah those fish are definitely shallow now. We caught fish from 4 to 10 fow. I only caught one fish as deep as 18'. We checked out at 36 and 24 and jigged a while with the finders and never even saw one fish. I know that they are catching perch towards the dam in 30 fow and a good mix of walleyes with them. The perch are puking up baby crawdads when they come up!

Amazing setup. Really genius how you can carry everything in the trailer. Got my wheels spinning! Thanks for posting!

Nice setup.  The spray foam is worth the cost. Very toasty.

For those interested in a similar version, albeit smaller, see the classified posted below on Ice Shanty.
