I was curious how thick the ice is where everyone is spearing. I cut a hole today 24 inches of clear hard ice. I am in NE South Dakota.

I just cut a hole with my fish's saw in 16" and it sure don't cut like 5" it's hard but it can be done. I'll say this much the ice chunk pinches allot easier :-\

I sawed though 24" today had the cut the block in three pieces to get it out, lol!

A foot an a half were i'm spear in!

We are at 29 inches now. Cut the first 26 with a chain saw and finish it our with the ice saw

we're sitting on about 20 inches.

37" as of this last weekend. I could just imagine how much ice we would have if we would not have had the heavy snow early in the season.
