*UPDATED* Official NWO G2G thread and sign-up
« on: Dec 15, 2008, 08:36 PM »
k , sorry for stealing the name guys, but after a chat with snakehunter the other day we thought we would try and organise a NWO meet up.

I see the meet ups down south, and whilst i'd love to attend because they look fun...for practical/geographical reasons it aint likely to happen any time soon :-\

Sooooooooo......

Thought we'd see if we could do something similar up here for the Northern contingent of IS.

I know i have already spoken to a couple of folks on here who are up for it...but if you could please reply to this post just so i have a list al in one place (i'm hoping we can get enough interest to form a list....lol) instead of just my PM list (3 so far)

SO IF YOUR INTERESTED SIGN UP!

Make a suggestion of a venue too.....

Put where you are from as well.

Thanks all,

the more the merrier.

Simon.

We could post this in the manitoba site too, as I am sure it would be a short run for some of them to Kenora or shoal.

This thing is more of viciouscircle's idea. He has no friends. Sad really ;) ;D ;D

Anyone would be welcome for sure. Should be fun.
My sled won't be looked at until next week so I may be looking for friends soon myself ;) ;D
Later,
Glen

Lets see who's interested and where everyone is coming from.  Might make it easier to pick a location.

I'm in Sioux Lookout.

LOL @ 'circle boy'

Good to have ya along Lewfish. I get this sneaky feeling you know who i am already but just aint letting on. Where is Mud Bay? I remember you saying i drive past your place to get home...are you in the Indian Point Camp Bay?

LOLOL....the mystery continues.

LOTW area might be an option, good idea...lots of everything in there, never fished it myself but aint heard bad things about it. Myself i'm a laker and whitefish man at heart....but any fisshing is good.

Once again...glad your in...dont needmany more now to start thinking about venue and dates, as i have recruited a couple from another Ontario forum.

Nice one Heavy Haul, glad your in!

We aint sure where or when or for what we'll be fishing for, thought i'd let this thread run a couple more days then start the process of working out what we are all gonna do and how WE all will work that out.

I might be interested depening on when you guys are getting together. LOTW is awesome for easy access with the ice roads and a good variety of species available depending on what section of the lake.

I sent you a PM too just to make sure you see this.

Hey Guys,

we're getting there!!!

So far (provisionally of course)we've got , BenBeattie, Snakehunter, LEWFISH, HeavyHaul, LOTWFisher, Boatless and myself. Billdunce is a possible, and i have PMed another local Dryden member too.

I've also been enlisting from another Ontario forum i visit and there are another 2 guys who say definitely coming as far as possible,

So as it stands we have a possible 11 signed up including lil' ole me. I know some of my buddies want to come who are not members of either forums, so thats another 3 or 4.

Guess we should start thinking about venues etc pretty soon.

hey folks...hope your ice is safe.
This is gonna be a good adventure.
Just thought of a few things...
I have been sitting here thinking about locations and a few thoughts came to mind. Does everyone has a sled/4x4 (or access to) ect. Might make choosing a location easier.
Day trip??? or a weekend event???, in which case we would need a camp to stay at.
I can't really help with locations around Kenora/Dryden as I am walking blind in that neck of the woods. Anywhere my side of Upper Manitou I know fairly well for various species.
As a side note my sled at the moment is about as usefull as an North American made toaster in England...but.... i am an adventurer and a lot of water I fish is of the beaten path... "the harder it is for me too get there, the harder it is for someone else"

Just a few thoughts

My 2 cents - If we can all access sleds then a multi-species fishing expedition is easy. Drive-to lakes are going to be bit difficult around Kenora. Trout lakes are accessible by car easy enough but you'd probably have to hit LOTW afterwards.  Myabe you other guys know some other areas where you live.

I think I would vote for LOTW for accessibilty for most except the Sioux Lookout and Dryden guys.
Big Sandy would be pretty much central for the entire region but you need a sled or ferry service.
Other than those options I'd go with a trout lake somewhere.

How about a quick poll for those committed to coming - Who has a sled or can get access to one?

Later,
Glen

I have a double up polaris edge touring, thats more than comfy for 2 guys... unfortunately I don't have a truck or trailer to pull it... I will be contacting a friend who may want to and be able to go depending on dates that also has a sled and a large snowmobile trailer + truck... Very nice set up. If I can get him to come and the dates match up then anywhere near a road and lake sounds awesome to me. Both sleds have hitches, and I will have my X1 hut, with a power auger. I will also be able to provide a spare graph for anyone that may not have one and some spare rods too. Right now I am down in Toronto area for christmas but when I get back I will try and be a little more helpful in the planning. Please keep me updated simon and I will try and find out what dates I am available so I can make it to whatever is planned.

Viciouscircle,

I tired replying to your PM, but your inbox is full.

My sled is only set up for a single rider, but if it came down to it I could take a passenger...but I would rather not.

It doesn't matter to me where we go, I don't mind commuting.

I'm probably only going to be good for a day trip....gonna be in nestor falls with some friends from thunder bay for a weekend, and will be out of town for the rest of january for work.

I am limited as to when I am free.  I'm good for the 28,29 and 30th of December or the 5,6, or 7th of January.

Let me know.

Jason

Ok guys, here goes.

After much thought i thought i'd just take the plunge and come up with plan...here it is.

Given the locations of everyone there was no way to please everyone so i thought i'd make it easiest for me...hehe

I was thinking because some would be travelling a fair way to do it over a weekend.

So the plan would be to get a cabin for one night....this way would also allow us to fish multispecies.

So....the cabin is owned byhttp://www.minnitakilake.ca/index.php  The camp is situated on Highway 72(road to Sioux Lookout).

The cabin is on Lake Keikewabik. The idea would be to fish Keikewabik for walleye the first day/evening, and then stay the night in the cabin on that lake, head back to the camp (about 20 minute sled ride through bush and across  Lake Minnitaki) the next morning, then go from there by sled to Big Sandy Lake for trout and whitefish for the next day. The cabin would be $25 per person for the night.

I only need to give darrel from the camp a weeks notice...so i guess we just need to find a date where as many people that have expressed an interest can make it, hopefully everyone, i'm thinking late January 1st week february, great...the coldest part of the year!!!!!lol.

I can make the time so i'm thimking a weekend aaround end Jan/beginning Feb.

Lemme know what ya think.

SIMON

Thanks simon.
