These last two years have sucked. Every time I had a day off the ice was S@#$. Im sooooooooooooooo excited for some hard water. Just hope we dont get let down again. I may just have to plan a trip up north if thats the case.

Was at Houghton lake this weekend they guaranteed safe ice Jan. 6th

I'm fortunate to have some shallow first ice lakes near me which last year where the only safe ice lakes.....Dec 5th 2014 I was on safe ice...personal record for me, let's see what this year brings!!!

Me too! We had to do a lot of driving (1hr +) to get to safe ice last year!    Hopefully we will be able to stay much closer to home this year!

Based on all the predictions the part of the Midwest is calling for below average temps and snow.   It would be nice to fish from late Nov into April like the good ol days....

too much snow with too little ice under it made for a poor season locally. so we had to drive south to get away from the snow ruined ice.
