Cold again here in the North country.
A balmy -40 with ice fog this AM.
Luckily not much in the way of wind.

I'd LOVE to be there, that'd be awesome.

Hello ER's!! Steve, we've still got power so far!!! Fingers crossed!! Try eBay for your owners manual. That's where I found mine and much less than the dealer wanted!!! Good luck!!  What a wacky roller coaster ride this winter has been!! After this cold front pushes through, the temps will rise again! I hope everyone has a decent weekend!!

Still frosty here but that will start to change tomorrow.
Currently -31F but supposed to warm up to -11F tomorrow.
Still -40 wind chills though.   :'(
Starting to feel better too.

This is the first time being called for jury duty. I'm interested to see what happens.
Wonder what the case is? I do know it's not a civil case or at least believe so as it's Supreme court not civil.

The byes over in Newfoundland got a $h!t kicking yesterday.
Up to 3 feet of snow in places blown by winds up to 110 MPH!!!!

Here's a pic of a retirement home in St. Johns.
Hope they didn't have a casino trip planned today.  ;)

The roads are fairly bad there.

Good Morning Everyone,
Fairly calm and 22* this am, just a few snow flurries falling, warming up to 33 today. Looks like we got about 4” of snow here between yesterday and overnight, certainly nothing like Drifters pictures!

Dave...think  “ $ hit kicking “ is a pretty mild definition for that Newfoundland weather!  WOW, that’s crazy!  I’ll try not to complain anymore about the nuisance snow here, lol. :woot:
Wally...sounds like the team met up with some very good competition...that makes better players. Congrats to them for earning a spot and competing!    Anymore games today?
OS...glad to read no power issues there.
Steve...best wishes and prayers sent for your nephew also, keep us posted!      Honestly don’t know the reason behind why it was so important to get that concrete poured Friday, but if it fails, ( and it certainly may ),  it will be the first piece we lost since I’ve been there. Guess compared to the thousands of yards that have been placed properly, it’s a very small loss...but a foolish decision nonetheless.
Marv...gotta love it when the guessers are wrong...sometimes!   ;D   Hope that second wave of snow was on the short side as well.
H2... hope the lanes were good to you yesterday!   How much snow up there?
Jeff...if the winds stay calm for a few days, the bays ought to at least start locking up again on LG...

Computer has been freezing up again this am, hopefully this one will get through.
Snow removal in a few minutes, brunch with several of my family this am....celebrating my Moms Birthday which is Wednesday...she’ll be 94 years young!
  Cawfee’s on...
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

Good morning Eddie! Good morning everyone

+3 feels like -18. The wind blew most of the day yesterday but we didn't notice it much sitting in front of the fire. This morning I will have to spend a couple hours getting everything cleaned up, but it shouldn't be bad.

Eddie Happy early Birthday to your Mom   Enjoy the brunch Sir!, sounds like a fun time

Dave some crazy pictures for sure. Like Eddie no more "Weather Whining" here either.

WW you getting excited about your trek to Wisconsin ?

OG the count down is on for the big fishing contest  Looks like the weather may be on your side.

Time to grab some coffee and then throw on my snow garb. No idea what's on the planner today, hopefully not cribbage ???

Hope you all have an excellent day:thumbsup: Stay safe.

                    Good morning Eddie, WS, ER's,
It's 23* and mostly cloudy with snow showers through out the day. ::)
Eddie...……...The ice on LG will be here before you know, I took this picture yesterday at MDB.  :flex: Happy Birthday to your mom!

Marv...……….Take it easy on the snow clean up. :flex: Watch the windchill.
Drifter...…….I don't whine about the weather, I know there are places that get far worse than we get. I like winter, I like snow and don't
mind clearing it away. But the most that I have experienced is 4' in one storm. :woot:
Steve...……..I hope your nephew had a safe trip, prayers were given. :flex:
Wally...……..That's too bad about the loses. :(
My wife asked my #2 son if Emma and Carson could come yesterday and spend the night, and they did, she also called #3 son to bring his
two girls over for the afternoon and dinner, so we had a houseful last night. The kids like to play hide and seek and the youngest Penelope is the best hider.
They could never find her when it was her turn to hide. :woot:
Today...after cleaning up the snow, looks to be about 6 to 7 inches out there, I will work on getting the sink in the basement installed. It's not an
easy task, I have finished walls and have to fish the water lines behind them. Then Football this afternoon and evening, Marv good luck to GB tonight.
I hope everyone has a good Sunday either at work or out.

21* and we got about 7 inches of snow. Daughter got stuck in the driveway, got her on the way to work. There will be people wanting coffee and donuts.

Drifter, I don't think my snowblower could handle that kind of so, either could I.

Had fun at bowling. Won a door prize, bottle of wine, vodka and whiskey. Also 5 lotto tickets on which I won $18. The drive home was not fun.

Have to go clean off our cars and finish the driveway.

Have a good day....h2l

I better make a post before I go out and finish the  clean up from Friday night storm. We got 6 or 7 inches of wet snow. After couple of hours with the blower I took a break. When I went back out the snow would hardly blow so I quit.  Hopefully with the teens for temperature over night it will blow better.

Steve I hope your nephew makes it home al right. The Chicago airport was shut down because of the snow for quite a while Friday and Saturday.

Marve I always kept my shanty blocked off the ice luckily. there were time that my friends would see it rocking in the winds. they found I had ropes down through the ice on opposite corners so it would not blow away. One time when the snow melted off followed by more snow a with high winds filling the shanty with snow. It took me a couple hours to get it cleaned out.
It is too bad my old friend. Morgan is not alive to come out and teach you how to catch that walleye. He would catch walleyes when no one else was. The last time I talked to him he was the only one that lake as it was a misty rain. I could tell it was him because he always wore a snorkel hood coat. I walked out. When I got to him he  said I knew it had to be you. He had a couple of nice walleyes on the ice. A guy came on M-S using Morgan's last name. I pmed him. He is Morgan's grand son. He has that snorkle hood coat his grand dad always wore.
Dave
I feel for you having the flu. I have not had it since July 15th of 2061. I remember the date as I had too usher at a friends wedding, I will not get a flue shot as I am not getting it in my body for fear of getting the flu.
They stared putting v-plows on pay loaders here after the blizzard of 78. That is the only way the opened a cut that had been closed for over 3 weeks.
I was up for jury duty a few times. They only times I was told to come in the trial was canceled due to plea deals. That is normal for my county. Even if some one I convicted of a crime the only get a slight tap on the wrist.

ww The experience of being in the tournament has to have been good experience for you grand sons even though the did not have a wining week end.

Good Morning ER's  7 * here and holding. Drifter that snow pic was awesome and spooky. IW that ice is looking great. Mason happy birthday to your mother; should be a great brunch. WS I hope the weather holds true. I sent a couple more question to the organizers I may be able to run a tip up there. Knowing me I'll screw up somewhere along the line. 4 rods 1 tip up if allowed for 3 hrs. and only 1 hole. WW still coming to get the boat? 6 inches here main roads good. Enjoy the weekend

Good day in the low forties with 10-20 mph winds. Winter storm Jacob started here around 1PM on Saturday then around 2:30 the snow feel at a slower rate before storm came in full force ended up with 3-4 inches. Thank you for the prayers and well wishes for my nephew on his trip home from California. I have not heard from my sister if he got home safely did not realize his flight was a "Red Eye" so storm was winding down here when he was leaving Los Angeles assuming he is safely back in NJ. some of you may already know this but Neil Peart the drummer for Canadian Rock band Rush lost his battle with brain cancer on Jan.7tTH at 67 years of age. My local oldies/classic rock station had atribute to him this morning.
Chris338378 welcome to the 9:45 thread feel free to post here at any time.
Eddie early Happy Birthday wishes for your Mom. I'm thinking maybe the supervisor did not want to see the crew loose a day's pay. ::) Be careful if you do any scouting or fishing tomorrow.
OldSailor good to read you never lost electric power. Thank you again for the PM's with E-bay information.
Wallyworld sorry your grandson's team did not make the playoffs I'm sure it was an exciting time for all of the boys. May the two of you have a problem free trip to and from WI.
Drifter thank you for the photos from Newfoundland hope I never see winter conditions like that most snow I remember getting from one storm is 24 inches. If you are picked for a case may it not drag out over several months.
Whopper Stopper what is the big contest you and Old Goat maybe going to this Winter. I know the Brainard Jaycees Eel-pout festival is very popular and draws a large crowd.
Ice Wanderer may the sink install not be to problematic. Sounds like you had a good time with some of your grandchildren. Hope Mealworm and his wife did not have to spend to much time plowing.
Hunts2long all the plow truck crews need there coffee doughnuts and breakfast items after being out all night. Congratulations on winning the door prize at the bowling contest. Best to you and your teammates tonight.
Tomturkey may the remaining snow clean up go smoothly.

A safe and good Sunday to everyone. Best to all fishing be careful out there know many of us have bad cases of "Ice Fishing Fever".

H2...congrats on your winnings, hope the team took all the points last night!

+6 getting into the teens by afternoon. They are still talking a big warm up as the week goes on, mid 30's by Thursday.

Eddie hope your mailbox post is holding up  Sounded like a fun time spent with your Mom

IW hope the installation goes well  The game could have been pretty good if the Packers would have shown up ???

WW safe travels as you head towards the new boat

OG hope you have all your equipment laid out ready to Win

I have  little more snow to deal with today.  I need to take the roof rake to my walkway and the garage roof. I may have time to check out a couple of lakes, we'll see.

-2* this morning.
WS, thanks for the picture of the ice fishing contest. I couldn't pick you out!!!
Drifter, I am just glad that storm was out to the East.
IW, saw a few plays of the 1st half at bowling. Dish and Fox still haven't solved their issues so didn't see the end when I got home. Unless they solve it there will be NO super bowl for me.
Eddie, glad you had a good brunch with your Mom. Happy Birthday to her. Good luck today and hope all goes well with the new flip over.
WW, be safe on the roads. The weather is looking pretty good for traveling.
We took 3 of 4 points last night. Loss the 1st game by 1 pin.
Have a good day....h2l

13* to start the day. It is not going to make much good ice with the amount of wet snow on the lake.

Eddie Happy belated Birthday to your mother. I have not seen any one fishing lately. The lake had a big open area that sealed over just before we got this shot of heavy wet snow. The wind will not blow it off. I am sure the weight of the snow has caused some over flow making slush. A guy told me at the senior center the other day that there was safe ice in the canals. I am pretty sure that he is  trespassing as I do not think that he has a legal right to fish the lake. To get some thing done about is imposable with this board.
A truck pulling a trailer with snowmobiles went through Houghton Lake the other day. If the did not get it out right away they will be paying a heavy fine for every day it is in the lake.

ww hopefully your trip home is on good roads.

Clearing off the back deck with the snow blower went alright other than the wind was in the wrong direction causing me to eat a lot of snow before I  could get where I could blow the snow down wind.
