nice. I started 3 weeks ago. got 30 dozen or so. traps are not working for me this year. maybe 2 dz were from the trap. the rest were rod and reel. not getting as many small crappie sized shiners this year. seems that last year's shiners have been growing too fast and are now 4-5 inches. Too big for my quarry. may have to start chasing bass and slime darts.
can't figure why they're not going into the trap.

where I have been catching them, the water is about 3-4 feet deep. I have tried floating the trap with empty water bottles at the surface, 9" or so below the surface, about 18" down and on the bottom. I use a suet holder to hold my bread at the bottom and a few pieces to float in the trap. I use a 10 oz bank sinker to anchor it in place.

Got about 9 dozen in a 24 hour soak with 4 traps sitting right on the bottom. Trapping the same pond through the ice last year only produced about one dozen all season.

Not very deep, maybe 4-5 feet?
