Has anyone seen the Pere Marquette south of Branch lately?
Looking to camp Saturday night and fish Sunday if its fishable, i.e water level, clarity.
Thanks. ;D

Michigan DNR sends me emails about conditions [email protected] .as of March first It says PM water levels are down a little and people are catching steelhead . Hope this helps

Thanks Shermanpup, just heard the same from a friend.
Bouncing bottom with spawn seems to be the ticket,
Thanks again. ;D

Baldwin bait and tackle says the upper river is good to go.
mid to lower is still a bit high and stained.
-
Thanks RustyS, we are headed up there tomorrow and camping out for the night.

Floated Mac to Rainbow Tuesday late afternoon until dark
Water was up a good 18 inches, but has dropped since.
Visibility was Ok about 2 feet, which for most rivers is good. On the PM that is dirty. It has since cleaned up more
Browns were biting
Landed 4 of 5
All 16 to19 inches a couple of fatties
The one lost was about 21 and skinny
Had a couple steelhead chase, but not commit
Used spinning gear
Couple of trout were rising to black stone flies.
IF fly fishing I would recommend black stone nymphs
Was supposed to float today, but stayed home to watch basketball
Good luck

Thanks for the detailed report SpartySturg.
That report is what true sportsmen are all about.
We are camping off of S Branch Rd. and will venturing out from there on foot, only have until Sunday evening so hope we can connect with a few fish. @)

How was your PM fishing outing ?

Slooooow, lol
Fished sat. evening and better part of the day sunday and never had a nibble.
We used spawn, spinners, beads, and even tried floating waxies on a jig under a slip and no luck.
The sand was really boiling in the section we were fishing.
We still had a great time though, we'll be back for sure. ;D
