Where should a rookie fish near Winnipeg
« on: Jan 10, 2013, 03:24 PM »
Hey guys,

Me and a few buddies are new to ice fishing. We tried fishing on the Red by the Selkirk steam plant last Saturday. We had no bites in a full day fishing there. We had frozen minnows for bait and tried jigs, pickeral rigs and ice fishing spoons (swedish pimple).

Does anyone have any recommendations of a better location near Winnipeg? or perhaps a better lure/bait? We're hoping to get out again this Saturday (if we don't get a blizzard) and try our luck again.

Thanks for any advice! :)

I always seem to luck out at Morden Lake, its about 1.5 hours south west of Winnipeg. Its a nice walleye spot!
