Truck threw ice at FPB!
« on: Jan 10, 2013, 10:02 AM »
I read on another site that a truck went in near the slew at the FPB. This happened last night!
Early to bed,
Early to rise!
Fish all day,
and make up lies!

I work in Selkirk not to far from there so I took a ride, it went in just off the main trail, they have the area tape and marked off with a sign. Not sure if they pulled it out or if it sank but it is not there now, just a hole in the ice. It is close to the slough.

Googled it:

RCMP say a 50-year-old man wasn’t injured when his pickup truck fell through the ice on the Red River near Selkirk on Wednesday.

The unfortunate incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. The driver — from the RM of Brokenhead — was in his 2006 Dodge pickup at the time, but was able to escape before the vehicle became submerged. No one else was inside the truck.

I'm confused,he wasn't injured but was unable to escape?

Is this the corner part where they usually tape off every year?

I think so , It's straight out from the point that seperates the slough and river. I took pictures that I will be posting once I get home tonight, But they will be on MFF, I have no luck posting on here ? I believe there is warm water that enters the river from the sewage plant in that area.

There is a pic of the truck on the MFF.

The reason why you cant put pics on Ice Shanty is they only allow links to pics.
