It's a wrap
« on: Mar 02, 2020, 12:47 PM »
Long time lurker 3rd time poster.  I enjoyed reading most posts and the pictures you all shared.  I made it out Saturday and thought I'd share pictures of my catch.  I had a handful of blue gills, a nice bass as well as a 14" perch and two catfish I caught on my new jaw jacker rig.  One was 28" the other 30", the other was a 12 Oz bud light.  haha

Thanks Hex.  In my 50 years of ice fishing I may have caught 2 catfish.  A week ago Friday I caught a 24" on Fox Lake.  Then I caught these two Saturday on a different lake.  Talk about battles.  The second tripped my jaw jacker just as the South Milford 12 Noon whistle went off.  At 12:19 she was finally wore out enough.  I'm not kidding you, when my buddy pulled her through the 6" hole it actually made a suction noise.  lol

I was hoping for more panfish, primarily perch as this lake has some darn nice ones.  A few years ago, one evening I caught 5 perch using a swedish pimple tipped with a minnow.  The sizes were 13.75, 13.50", 13, 12.75 and 12.50.  So the 14" was a personal best for me.

Take care,

Tim

Probably 10+years ago on Sylvan, my brother and I got into the channel cats on jiggawhoppers tipped with three minnows in deep water. Man did they fight and couldn't hardly pull them through the six inch holes. Never got on them again like that but it was fun while it lasted! Hex
