Bone crushers never helped me. I head off to my PT Dr. And it takes a week to get squared around again... Hope you heal quickly.

Thanks everyone !! Went to the bone chrusher, and she got back in ;D ;D. Will be sore far a couple days. Then I should be back at it.

On another note, one of my buddies went through yesterday up to his waist right next to his snowmobile !!! He must have been on an old hole that opened up. he is ok, just a little wet. Be safe out there !!!   Sully...

Geez Sully that was fast!!! I was hoping for a chance at em before you were 100% LOL  :roflmao: :roflmao:

Those back twisters are wizards!!!

Had a guy give me the business about walking out of Cleveland Sunday with my spud!!! Besides helping with balance dragging my gear i was fairly close to the gasholes out there as noted on navionics.   Nver saw them but i am sure they are there skimmed over with snow on them.

I saw a guy go through in front of the gas station next to apps on Saturday afternoon,  he said the spot was snowed over and he went through and was able to grab solid ice and get out very quickly he was wearing a float suit as well. Be careful and have maps opened for gas holes.

Looks like more snow coming so that should insulate and hold what we have
Plus I don’t see any real warm up coming in the next 10 days that will really hurt much , time will tell

The top 4 to 5" of the ice is shot. Haven't seen any candling in the black ice yet, and yes the snow we have coming will protect it some what. Always remember that the days are getting longer. The long daylight hours will do more damage to it than anything else. I payed attention to it on the freeze up this year. There was alot of big open spots. I am watching where those spots were. I am willing to bet those areas will be the first to open up. It was a strange freeze up. It's not going to take long to become unsafe once the snow is gone off it, but saying that I think we still have a while before that happens. Enjoy it while it lasts, and be safe around the cracks, and old holes.   Sully...

Hope you feel better soon, Sully! Like FFP, I’ve had back problems for years and will have them for the rest of my days.  I use chiro, PT, and home exercises/stretching...a real battle to keep what I’m doing. Everyone’s problem is unique and may require various approaches.
Stay safe everyone!!!

Where I get on at my mom’s house the shore ice is not good. I have to pick a spot to walk on or blow through it with the sled. I think it is because of the water level coming up. If the rain stays away for a while we should be okay though.

No snow pack again this year to speak of so shores are going to go fast like they have the past couple years. Boats ready but still time before the sun wins

Buddy of mine, yesterday, went through with his wheeler at the shore on Black Lake. Sat in about 30" of water. I pulled him out of it and then back on shore when we got done fishing.
Seems a bit early for that around here.

By mid march I've been on a Finger Lake the past few years. Last year I was casting a creek in early March for eyes. And still hitting the ice on a few spots. options are nice

Maybe a cheap Arz compass might help prevent some confusion

A boy scout compass will last many years and is cheaper than a bucket of minnows.  I have them stashed in my ice gear, hunting packs, etc.  And you don't have to be an Eagle Scout to use one effectively, their basic function allows you to walk in a straight line.  I've been "turned around" (in the woods), not a nice feeling.  Glad those fellows are ok, mistakes happen.

I am looking for other people to hit the ice with. I have all my gear but its much safer going with a group than by yourself. let me know if anybody has room in there group.

x2 Ice was solid and in great shape where I was today Fred. Shoreline where I access the ice isn’t to bad but won’t take much to beat it up to the point where might have to make a little bridge to get onto the ice from shore (old pressure treated dock section)
