Has anyone checked the conditions in NW RI, since that last heavy snowfall? Hoping all that weight on the ice has pushed the water up through and refroze. Would rather not have to trudge through 16" of snow.
-
nothing yet that I know of I heading back toward the berks tomorrow
-
I talked to someone today who said Wilson’s is covered in snow then some slush before you get down to the ice. I found about 4” of white snow ice on parts of Echo Lake today. Heard there were guys ice fishing the shallow end of Watermans today too. Be safe.

I rode snowmobile around Wilsons today . There is fresh snow with areas of slush under it . I made several passes up to boat ramp and out onto lake in multiple directions to open up slush . My tracks should harden up into good walking paths by tomorrow morning. I found someone’s tip up they left behind last week .

Absolutely!! Looking out for his fellow ice brothers!

Went to check my tip ups in prep for tomorrow and realized I'm down a tipup - pretty sure that's mine and I feel like an @$$
-
The one that he found has been frozen in for about three weeks. No tip ups left behind where you fished last Sunday. :(
-
that actually makes me feel better! I hated the thought of "littering" - thanks for the update!

Anyone been bye Wilson's...interested to know what the edges look like.
-
Yeah, was by there yesterday...edges had about 6' of open water and the ice was an ugly grey, unsafe-looking color. Hate to say it, but I think we are done here in RI. Glad I got out there on Thursday.
-
I am hoping that the cold temps overnight helped to firm it up. Only supposed to hit 40 this afternoon then right back into the 20's tonight. Might play hooky tomorrow and check it out. Have to get the plank out of the basement.

RBIII,
I am all about extending the season and planking it, when possible...but I don't think this is one of those situations. Don't have a pic to share but trust me, it was very ugly!
Checked Wakefield while in the area and it was wide open.
-
Appreciate the heads up...by the tone of your post minus the pictures I am probably gonna pass on trying tomorrow. Haven't gone through the ice yet and don't need to try. ;D

Fire department was just off ramp .. it took a 5lb sledge and a ax to break a hole open to train ..

Plus if the dam is open the edge will dry up
