Ok Guys I am going to start this one off a little early this year. I am thinking the first weekend of march will be the best date to shoot for again this year for ice conditions. What does everyone think as far as location. We did last year at brushy and it was a great turnout. What do you guys think?

I was actually thinking brushy again and do the southern iowa one independant of this one. I am planning on attending the 3 or 12 mile one also. The problem stems from trying to keep it in the central part of the state so everyone has an opportunity to make it. Im lucky living in Des Moines that no matter where I go I dont have to drive more than 3 hours as long as I stay in the state.

unless you like yellow bass 12 mile is my choice although the yellows are around 10" in three mile from what I caught this fall

Maybe the 12 & 3 mile one a little earlier as March might be a little late for the South lakes.

My vote would be to set up the early march on Brushy and another group of guys can do 12 mile in February. I agree...it would prob need to be a week or two earlier than the Brushy get together. We had fishable ice last year in March but last year was not a typical winter.

Projected warm weather this weekend coupled with high winds is going to smoke the ice in SW Iowa.

Ive been back and forth about it because of ice conditions. What are everyones ideas about the first saturday in march pending ice conditions?

I was on Brushy Saturday 21st.

Good ice conditions. The surface is rough from refrozen slush but not much or many snowdrifts left. Easy driving for ATV, sleds or pickups. Not many folks out and my fish/catching was sloooooow. I managed three perch which I fried up for lunch right then and there. I got the perch in 39 foot of water. Caught a few dink Bluegills and that was it for the day.

I'm up for heading back on the 7th of March. I'll be driving a Red Ford F150, pulling an enclosed 6X12 trailer. On the ice I'll have a green Arctic Cat ATV pulling a Clam Fish-Pro shelter. Any one that wants my phone number give me a pm with yours and I reply back with mine. It's a two hour drive for me from Shell Rock. I can take one other guy and his solo shelter, if someone wants to share the drive over.

That's a bit far for me to make it from Kansas City, but if 12 mile happens I'll be there. I was out there last weekend (Saturday 21st) and apart from 3 Crappie I saw on the camera, I would swear the lake was empty. Would be great to meet some other folks.

I think this weekend is the Iowa deer Classic. I can't miss that. You should have it around DesMoines so we can do both. Lol
