1 ?did you know how big it was when you first hooked him?ive noticed most of the time the huge slobs like that nibble lightly...when i fished with a bobber,i caught the biggest of my life..but all i saw was the bobber twitch..i reeled up to check my bait and didnt even know he was on til i reeled up 3 ft.

It was the first fish I caught that morning I had a mark on my vex and dropped my spoon tipped with a waxie down. I use a 27" Frabill Quicktip for panfish and thats exactly how they bite you may only notice a slight pressure relief on your rod and they will be on

I hear ya on that one. I was fishing a spot once where it was 3 feet deep, so I could watch the fish bite the bait. The biggest red ear I ever seen came in and I watched it suck in the bait and blow it out and the bobber never moved. Needless to say I finally hooked that sucker and when I did it just kind of turned sideways for a second. Then it realized it was hooked. Snap like it was nothing

You had a panfish break you off? I cannot imagine fishing that light of a setup. Great Gill though...Ive never seen one bigger than 10-11" i dont think...
