I ice fished Big Muddy in between casper & glenrock last year didn't do worth a crap , but didn't have my vexilar then! Have been wanting to try the pond by the dump there is quite a few different species of fish in that one!

Yesness and the pond by the dump. I have seen some huge cats in there. I've been wanting to go to the one by the dump also.

Bait be gone, do you mean edness kimbal?there's no fishing there at all. I wish there was because there is some really nice blue gill in there.

No it is called Big Muddy Pond same highway just past edness kimble about another 10 miles then on your left you can see it from the highway! Some people call it the state pond. Game & Fish have been stocking it with bass for a few years now! Have seen a few alright ones cought there in the summer but don't think there is much size in there

I want to go that one now too lol. I had a a buddy catch a white colored bass from that pond by the dump. I fishing it a couple times last year all I saw on the aqua vu was a carp so I don't know where the gills go but I know there is a crap load of them in there

I made bryan stock trail pond "the pond below the dump" look like Swiss cheese about 3 years ago. I had my camera with me and seen a lot of small gills and trout. I only caught a few trout that year nothing big. I have also fished it during the summer and have caught some really nice trout and cats. I have heard stories of walleye, perch, bass, crappie, trout, cat fish, carp, suckers, being caught out there. I personally have only caught trout, carp, and cat fish out of there

My dad has caught a walleye out of there before just one and it was in the summer!  How much ice is usually on there? I might make it there this year .

I know yesnes is uncovered but that pond will go back and forth. I will see what its like there by the dump, there is still quit a bit of ice on the river over there so maybe there will be some alright ice on it

In addition to being next to the dump, that pond is also by the water treatment plant. are those fish safe for eating?
Title: Re: Ponds in Casper
Post by: Bait Be Gone on Dec 31, 2011, 05:49 AM
I have ate them before but I know people who will not! Makes a guy wonder?

Personally I am one of those people who catch and release fish back into the duck pond. I have known people to eat fish out of there, can't say they have gotten sick but I don't think I would risk it. A lot of people swim there during the summer and trash ends up everywhere. It is a shame what people do to that pond.

I have eaten trout from there when I use to fish there a lot and I ate the cat fish that I caught.  The water plant and dump are right by the river too but nothing is said about that.....

Yes the river feeds that pond because it raises and lowers with the river.

dont understand why you have to have certain amount of posts before you can find out if conditions are safe to go to. Or shal we all just go fall through the ice and parish in freezing water. Just saying...

Im not sure there was 4 inches of ice that their boat broke through.  Depends on when out cold snaps we get.

Title: Re: Ponds in Casper
Post by: outdoorschris on Jan 15, 2012, 08:11 PM
I not sure Wyofly I have only seen a carp and crayfish in there during the winter on the camera.

I saw some on drilled a hole at yessness pond when I stopped by so I measured it and it was 4.5 inches thick.

I looked at the ice at Bryan Stocktrail today but didnt get out of the truck looked kinda sketchy, maby the west end is ok. there was a little bit of open water at the east end. I think Yesness is more of a kid fishery...

I have always been told that they would like it to be a kids fishery but there are not any regs that limit it
