Cusk Question
« on: Jan 16, 2013, 02:18 PM »
Myself and a few others are heading up to the big lake friday night to set cusk traps and try jigging for some. What depths do you look for when night jigging for cusk? Also are there any preferred jigs? Hopefully we will have a good report come saturday night.
Thanks.

They are rumoured to come up out of the depths into shallow rock piles.  The depth isn't as imprtant as the rise in elevation.  As for jigs, from what I have heard blue and glow are favored.  I caught one the other night on an orage glow forrage minnow tipped with wax worms, so I supect they are not too picky, I suspect finding them is more imprtant that what you are presenting them.
