We are still fishing off the west shore about 3/4 of a mile towards rattlesnake and catching walleye. We are pulling our equipment this afternoon late and we anticipate this being the end of it due to the extreme high winds forecasted.

Forkzilla thanks for the reports. Do you do any guiding or trans porting fisherman out to the island. Thanks in advance.

I texted a friend of mine on PIB yesterday and he told me he spudded off the new ramp and found 9" of ice down to 4", in muddy water. I asked him to text if he caught fish, and didn't get any response as of yet. I'm done for the year.

I flew to Put-in-Bay today to check the ice, and saw 25 to 30 pop-up shanties on the ice. Some of them walked out and some of them drove their four-wheelers out. 1 Island resident reported as little as 4 in of ice. Very few fish being caught most likely due to the muddy water.

fish mar 1 to mar 5. Water was cloudy, had to figure out what work. after that we were catching 20 to 30 a day.  Some days aggressive. other very little movement when marks come in.

yea your right chilly,But the thing is they were fishin Catawba not put in bay...Catawba is mainland and put in bay is a REAL island...Those people were just plain dumb to fish Catawba this time of year, especially this year..I think they even had a east wind..Not smart...Remember this thread is puy in bay ice, right?   Anyway a great yr for me and cant wait till next season.....

I fished off Catawba from wed-fri. Had a great couple of days. 6-7 in off ice every hole I drilled. I dumped my minnows fri when I saw the big east wind for sat. Didn’t want to be tempted to beat Mother Nature. The crack on the point was the same one every year and started working on fri. Mark

Yup it was east by the way I know a lot of guy around have a lot of experience.. but  the orignal post was to prevent stuff like catawaba  from happening  for unexperierenced ice fishermen best thing to do is put out a warning early.. and let them unexperierenced fishermen do as I say not as I do.. heck we fish till two week ago.. and  last week end was not safe cause of east wind.. that how quick it changes.
