Author Topic: Slammer Brown on Gleneida Today 2-11-11 (Read 6592 times)

Fished Gleneida today with BC Shanty and Tim. We got 4 lakers ranging from 22" - 26" and my PB Brown, 27" and 11 lbs.!! Hooked him at 64 feet down over 90 FOW. At first I thought it was a Laker being it was down so deep until I brought it to the surface and it buzzed the hole the first time and then I went into FREAK mode! After a few more close calls at the hole I finally was able to get him in and thanks to the expert hands of Kevin (BC) he put it on the ice for me. Mega Thanks Bro'!!! He's my PB Brown and just dropped it off at the taxidermist. Great day on the ice and with good friends made it spectacular!

Great fish mike. I'm going to have to make a trip down your way. As for Thursday. If your going to pilot let me know what time you'll be there and I'll meet up with you again. I work overnight on Wednesday but sleep is over rated.

WoWW Mike !! Incredibly beautiful Brown !!!...its an eye popper for sure......it will look awesome on the wall...you guys had a nice day out there also!! Alot of nice pictures of nice fish

...and..the ice doesn`t look too slushy and mushy...memories for sure..

Jason, Pilot sounds great! I'll leave the house at 5:30 am on thursday which will put me up there around 8am. You want to meet @ FA beach or Stewarts on 149?

You most certainly do tgrm and the guys who brought it out on the ice were kind enough to punch a few holes
with it. In all likelihood they spooked a few lakers our way shortly before I got this brute! Guess I owe them one!

Very nice fish!!! Congrats I guess word traveled fast. There were a lot of guys out there today! Tried west branch today. Only 25' of water out there. Got a white, yellow, 2 smelt & a 4# 2oz pickerel. Lots of misses too.

Trout, I think after the picture I took of you two years ago with that whopper laker made it to this page, Gleneida became somewhat of a focal point of discussion as it relates to trophy ice fishing all over NYS. I have friends who live up in the Adirondacks and around the Capital district who are well aware of Gleneida's reputation. As we locals all know however the reality is that Gleneida is a difficult lake, at best, to consistently catch fish from. I think that's why sometimes fish like those you have caught and those that I have been lucky enough to get in Gleneida in the short term result in increased interest in the lake. Reality sets in and the interest quickly dies down when the hours spent ice fishing Gleneida -vs- the success rate most often result in low yielding outcomes. I've been fishing Gleneida for 35 years and never have come close to a fish like the one I just got or the beauty you got 2 years ago. Gotta try though because ya never know!!

Thats very true, I had a boat there for 20 Years, pulled out a lot of browns in June /July, not much at other times, very few lakers over the Years, never Ice fished when I lived there.
